5.13.10.4.2. Connections, Functions, IEC symbols

[Note] Note

For ECAD systems the connection between 3D coordinates and symbolic representation in 2 dimensions is essential.

[Note] Note

In the class CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection), the physical pins are linked with the logical pins from the circuit diagram, so that respectively classified parts save the need for manual linking.

Parts may contain subparts (=functions). This connection (function group/functions) is mainly imparted by class CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection) -> attribute Connection EclassSymbolMap within the scope of eCl@ss Advanced and so also CNS classification. In certain circumstances, with this information, an ECAD system can divide equivalent subparts in a way, that connection lengths become optimized.

In the following the procedure of classifying is described with the Phoenix relay terminal with order number 2964500:

  1. Set needed Connection points accordingly in PARTdesigner.

    Connection points ..CP_11 to ..CP_15

    Connection points ..CP_11 to ..CP_15

  2. Assign connection points to the class CNS_CP|4|3 (Electrical Connection) and assign a Name and an Identifier.

    Name and Identifier

    Name and Identifier

The Identifier (in this figure exemplarily 3.1) has been named analogously to the naming in eCl@ss.

    Connection identifier 3.1

    Connection identifier 3.1

The name (in this figure 12) has been assigned analogously to the circuit diagram.

  3. Via attribute Connection EclassSymbolMap, determine symbol (function code), function and pin number to be used.

In this example Connection EclassSymbolMap has the value "S00230||2||1

In this example Connection EclassSymbolMap has the value "S00230||2||1

The syntax of attribute Connection EclassSymbolMap is as follows:

Function code || Function no. || Pin no.

For a correct classifying the respective string needs to be found. Following example shows function number 2 and pin number 1.

    Example:

    S00230           ||       2         ||   1

The function code S00230 complies with a changeover .[55]

    [Note] Note

The indices of Connection EclassSymbolMap start with 1 (not with 0).

    [Note] Note

Carry out classifying carefully, so that errors are prevented. The respective interfaces cannot check the correctness of entries in attribute Connection EclassSymbolMap.
