[Note] Note

Naming convention

  • The name must be completely written in small letters

  • If the name consists of several words, then underlines (“_”) have to be used as separator

  • Don’t include company types like “llc”, “sarl”, “sa”, etc.

  • Don't use special characters such as TM or ®, etc.

Catalog name (PARTproject -> catalog root folder -> tabbed page General)

Beside the “physical” folder name there is also a Catalog name, which after Translation (see PARTproject -> catalog root folder -> tabbed page Translation) represents the finally displayed name both for the end customer in PARTdataManager, PARTcommunity and all other CADENAS end media.

Edit project -> tabbed page General -> Settings for the catalog -> Catalog name

Edit project -> tabbed page General -> Settings for the catalog -> Catalog name

As the Catalog name appears frequently at many different places, it is important to choose it short, clear and unique.

[Note] Note

Naming convention

  • At least the first letter must always be a capital letter (even if the supplier has e.g. a small written name in the logo)

  • If possible also all further letters should be capital letters

  • Don’t include company types like “LLC.”, “S.A.R.L.”, “S.A.”, etc.

  • It has to be considered, that e.g. in case of Asian companies, the name has to be translated into characters (like Kanji, etc.).

Additionally it is important to always check if there is already a catalog with the target name existing at the mentioned places. It sometimes happens, that a supplier is CADENAS customer in different countries and of different subsidiaries. In such a case it should always be tried to create all data in one catalog. Only if this is really impossible, the catalogs should be separated with a name extension like „companyname_cn“ (e.g. for the Chinese catalog), etc.

For example, the Catalog name is relevant at the following places:
