###### 3.1.6.4.11.3.  Topology search - Settings in detail

3.1.6.4.11.3.1.  Size

Search for greatest, middle and smallest dimension of a part. Or search for the dimension in the direction of X-, Y and Zaxis. Same object - other dimension in direction of X and Y axis.

3.1.6.4.11.3.2.  Area/Volume

Perform this search with relatively high tolerance, since values can differ quite a bit due to different quality (triangulation) of parts to compare.

You can set a tolerance in two different ways:

Example:

• `29000-30000`

• `29500+-500`

3.1.6.4.11.3.3.  Symmetry

With this function you can search for symmetries: Once for the type and in the list field with the possibility of differentiation according to "symmetric", "nearly symmetric" and "not symmetric".

• Axis symmetry

Example: Axis symmetry 3D Axis symmetry 2D

• Rotation symmetry

Example: Rotation symmetry 3D Rotation symmetry 2D

• Plane symmetry

Example: Plane symmetry 3D Plane symmetry 2D

3.1.6.4.11.3.4.  Distances

With this function you can search for distances between planes within a part. 3.1.6.4.11.3.5.  Angle

With this function you can search for angles between two planes. Decisive is always the inner angle. Example: Hexagon nut 3D Example: Hexagon nut 2D

3.1.6.4.11.3.6. Material

Material Thickness

With this function you can search for material thickness. This function makes sense when searching for semi-finished products for example. Example: 3D preview

3.1.6.4.11.3.7.  Cylinder

With this function you can search for inner and outer cylinders. Example: Inner cylinder Example: Outer cylinder

3.1.6.4.11.3.8.  Cone

With this function you can search for inner and outer cones. In the following you see the single parameters with the help of two little examples:

• Outer cone Outer cone 3D Outer cone 2D

• Inner cone Inner cone 3D Inner cone 2D

3.1.6.4.11.3.9.  Hole

With this function you can search for holes. Amount, dimension and type can be specified.

• Depth / Diameter • Hole type:

• Blind hole

• Through-hole

• Start / End type of counterbore: No counterbore Counterbore for countersunk bolts Counterbore for cylinder head bolts

3.1.6.4.11.3.10.  Elongated Cylinder

With this function you can search for elongated cylinders. 3.1.6.4.11.3.11.  Rectangular hole

With this function you can search for a rectangular hole. Rounding Diameter 3.1.6.4.11.3.12.  Curved Slot

With this function you can search for a curved slot.

• Amount: The curved slots can appear at any position and don't have to form a pattern. If the curved slots are arranged as pattern, you can also search with the Curved Slot Pattern function.

• Angle: The angle is calculated from the slot's circular arc segment without the slot's rounding at the beginning and end. Example: Angle 90°

• Width: Width of a curved slot Width

• Diameter: Distance from the middle of the width of a curved slot to the center of the circle times 2 Diameter

• Depth: Depth of a curved slot Depth

3.1.6.4.11.3.13.  Torus

With this function you can search for internal and external tori.

• Amount: You can search for a certain number of tori (with or without distinction of internal or external tori; see next point)

• Orientation: Internal Example - Part with 3 tori (Internal)

• Orientation: External Example - Part with 2 tori (External)

• Minor Diameter: Under Topology information, displayed as parameter D1 (both at Torus External and Torus Internal [compare figures above])

• Major Diameter: Under Topology information, displayed as parameter D2 (both at Torus External and Torus Internal [compare figures above]) Example - D2: Major Diameter | D1: Minor Diameter at Torus External and Torus Internal

3.1.6.4.11.3.14.  Circular pattern

With this function you can search for circular patterns.

• Pattern diameter / Hole diameter • Hole depth: • Number of patterns: Number of patterns in the searched part

• Angle:

Angle between two adjacent pattern elements (in the above example 45°, which results in 8 positions in a complete pattern)

Note The angle specification refers to an angle between two adjacent elements in a complete pattern. In the following figure, nevertheless, in any case the angle is 45°. • Hole type:

• Blind hole

• Through-hole

• Start / End type of counterbore: No counterbore Counterbore for countersunk bolts Counterbore for cylinder head bolts

3.1.6.4.11.3.15.  Linear pattern

With this function you can search for linear patterns.

• Number of patterns: Number of patterns in the searched part

• Amount Width / Amount Height: Number of pattern elements in width and height

Note In staggered arrangements, the elements of the staggared row are also counted. Example: Width = 10 elements, height = 3 elements

Distance X / Distance Y:

Distance between two pattern elements in direction of X and Y axis Here exemplarily: Width = 10 elements, height = 3 elements

• Hole depth: • Arrangement

• Straight Arrangement: Straight

• Staggered Arrangement: Staggered

Note For staggered patterns not the absolute distance from hole center to hole center is decisive, but the distance in direction of X and Y axis. • Start / End type of counterbore: No counterbore Counterbore for countersunk bolts Counterbore for cylinder head bolts

3.1.6.4.11.3.16.  Slot pattern

With this function you can search for slot patterns. Here exemplarily: Width = 6 elements, height = 4 elements

• Number of patterns: Number of patterns in the searched part

• Amount Width / Amount Height: Number of pattern elements in width and height

Note In staggered arrangements, the elements of the staggared row are also counted. Example: Width = 9 elements, height = 3 elements

Distance X / Distance Y:

Distance between two pattern elements in direction of X and Y axis

• Hole length / Hole width: Length and width of a single slotted hole

• Hole depth: • Arrangement

• Straight Arrangement: Straight

• Staggered Arrangement: Staggered

Note For staggered patterns not the absolute distance from hole center to hole center is decisive, but the distance in direction of X and Y axis. 3.1.6.4.11.3.17.  Rectangular Slot Pattern

With this function you can search for a Rectangular Slot Pattern. Here exemplarily: Width = 4 elements, height = 4 elements

• Number of patterns: Number of patterns in the searched part
