5.8.2.1.15.13.  Manage address data

Editing a large number of supplier address data directly in PARTproject is possible, but annoying. See Classification (By Countries).

Better use the function Manage address data.

The function enables both the export of already existing address data and the import.

Preparations

  • The classification By countries has to be installed.

  • For the initial filling it is best to perform an export before in order to get the table structure. (Index tree categories.prj selected -> under Automation context menu command Manage address data)

    Manage address data -> Export

    Manage address data -> Export

  • Provide a CSV file with the desired address data.

    • Following columns are supported:

      CATALOG; COUNTRY; SORTPOS; COMPANY; DESCRIPTION; STREET; ZIP; LOCATION; PHONE; FAX; EMAIL; URL; NAME

      [Note] Note

      SORTPOS: With this you can optionally control the sequence of addresses in output media. Use natural numbers for the entry. The Country which has the "1", is shown at the first position by default when loading the page, the others will accordingly follow in the list field. Under City the one assigned to the "1" is shown, the others will accordingly follow in the list field.

      If there are no entries under SORTPOS, the display is alphabetically.

      Example:

      Column "SORTPOS" partly filled

       "LOCATION"; "PHONE";        "FAX";            "EMAIL";           "URL";
       "NAME"

      "name";    "DE";      "1";        "Company"; "Head office";  "Müllerstraße 2"; "72172";
       "Anywhere";"+49 1111 793-0";"+49 1111 793-33";"info@company.com";"http://www.com.de"/;

      [Note] Note

      When using spreadsheet programs please pay attention that no extra row with neutral labeling is entered in the first position when exporting or importing and the format UTF-8-BOM is set in order for umlauts and special characters to be correctly displayed.

      Separator has to be semicolon.

    • Any column sequence may be used.

    • All columns except COUNTRY are optional.

    • Country codes can be viewed under $CADENAS_DATA/datasetup/classsystem/by_countries/by_countries_default.csv (column 6).

Process

  1. Call the command Manage address data in PARTproject, in your catalog on categories.prj.

    -> The same-named dialog box with the Export and Import is opened. When clicking on the search button ... you can set the desired file.

    After confirmation with OK the data is exported or imported. When importing there is still a security prompt as existing data will be overwritten.

  2. After selection of categories.prj under PARTproject -> tabbed page General -> Classification -> Classification (By Countries) and Attributes (By Countries) you can directly access the data.
