2.6.1.4. "Touching Surfaces"

Placing an object in a conical hole.

The placement happens via conical surface. All needed placement constraints are automatically created.

The method Touching Surfaces is suited for the placement of countersunk screws, for example.

Initial situation:

Once you clicked on the button Export to CAD in PARTdataManager or Seamless, the view switches to the CAD and the PARTsolutions placement dialog is opened.

The buttons below for the confirmation of the placement are still inactive. By clicking on you can cancel the placement action.

  1. Click on the button Touching Surfaces .

    -> The 3D view in the placement dialog shows the possible connection points now. Should there be several possible connection points, respective information is given in the placement dialog.

    -> In the placement dialog on the tabbed page Graphics, you can find 3D preview images of the part or technical views (if available).

  2. Select coincident placement face.

    Possibly CAD dialogs are displayed in addition, whereby the placement dialog becomes inactive.

  3. Click on Place once or Place multiple .

    -> The bolt is placed.

    Possibly the insertion is triggered by interaction with another dialog and then can be dropped here.

  4. Optionally perform other placements or close placement dialog

    Place multiple (dialog is left open)
    Place once (dialog is closed)
    Close dialog (without placement)
