2.5.5.2.10. Physical properties from PARTsolutions

If on the side of PARTsolutions the physical properties are set in the CNS classification, then these are also transferred to the CAD system during the export.

In PARTdataManager the attributes of the CNS classification are displayed under index tree, context menu of a part, menu item Part information.

The following matrix shows how ProEngineer acts in different scenarios.

Attribute from PARTsolutions Calculated by interface Calculated by CAD
Mass Volume Density Mass Volume Density Mass Volume Density
X             X Default
  X         X   Default

  • When mass, volume and density are transferred from PARTsolutions, then these values are directly overtaken by the CAD system.

  • If one of these three values is missing, then the interface calculates the missing.

  • If only density is given, then Pro/E calculates mass and volume on the basis of the geometric model.

  • If only mass or only volume is given, then Pro/E uses a default value for the density and calculates the missing third value.

If the density can be calculated on the basis of the material transferred from PARTsolutions (material mapping), then this is used and again the missing third value is calculated by Pro/E.
