3.1.14.1.9. Setting options for "Make or Buy", "Find suppliers", "Cost mockup"

The settings dialog for Make or Buy, Find suppliers and Cost mockup is very similar in the basic set-up. The differences are marked in the following description.

This figure shows exemplarily the setting options for the Cost mockup report.

This figure shows exemplarily the setting options for the Cost mockup report.

  • Select source parts:

    • in selected directory:

The directory selected in the index tree is already inserted.

    • Search only for selected line:

That line selected in the table view is used. The call up has to happen via Extras menu and in the opened Part view.

    • Files in file system:

Via browse button ... select the desired directory.

    • include subdirectories

Optionally you can also include subdirectories. If needed activate this option.

      [Tip] Tip

If you don't get a result, the reason is often that the activation of this option has been forgotten!

  • Search suppliers by: (This item is only displayed at the " Find suppliers " report.)

    • Geometrical similarity:

Searching for geometrical similarity is the standard case at all reports. At the "Find suppliers" report you can perform a textual search instead or in addition. See next checkbox.

    • Norm numbers:

A textual search based on reference statements to standard parts is performed.

See Section 3.1.14.1.5, “"Find suppliers" report”.

  • Search options:

    • Report name: Enter a desired name in the input field.

    • Search template:

      • Fast search :

A default search template for the 3D search which uses only one algorithm and so normally is a bit quicker than the others, but possibly provides not as well results.

      • Standard search :Medium quality and speed

Default search template for the 3D search which uses a lot of algorithms, but takes a little bit more time.

        [Tip] Tip

In most cases the Standard search is appropriate.

      • Broad search : Less speed

      • Search for profiles : Especially suitable for searching profiles, e.g. U-profiles, L-profiles, etc.

    • Threshold in %: Determine the minimal tolerated similarity.

      [Note] Note

When you don't get results, you possibly have chosen a too high value. Try 70% for example.

    • Maximum number of search result: Hereby you can limit the displayed results. It does not affect the search itself.

    • Search all source lines which have fingerprints:

If this option is deactivated, the first project line with available fingerprint is taken.

      [Note] Note

For Cost Mockup Reports it makes sense to activate this option, because price information basically concerns lines and not projects.

Please regard: The activation raises the calculation time significantly.

    • Show only the best matching result per project:

      [Note] Note

For Cost Mockup Reports it makes sense to deactivate this option, because you want to evaluate all lines.

      [Note] Note

For the report creation preview images are automatically created.

The creation it relatively time consuming at native catalogs. Please keep this in mind when you deactivate the option, because in that case a preview image has to be created for every line.

  • Price options: (This option is only displayed at the " Cost mockup " report.)

    • In the list field select the desired column, which contains the price information. The price information is displayed at all search results later (if available).

    • Optionally state the currency.

    • Ignore projects without price information:

The activation can accelerate the search. On the other hand very similar parts are possibly not included in the comparison anymore.

  • search in following directories: Activate those directories via checkbox, which you want to include for the search.

  • Custom variables :

By clicking on the button the dialog box Custom variables opens.

    Custom variables

    Custom variables

Here you have the possibility to define variables, which shall be displayed in the report in addition. These are displayed at each part.

Possible are both ERP variables and variables from the characteristic attribute table.

First click on Add in order to add a new line.

    • Variable type:

Via double-click into the line under Variable type the list field opens with the following options:

      • ERP

      • Table

    • Variable:

Via double-click into the line under "Variable" a list field with the following options opens:

      • Options at variable type "ERP":

The ERP variables of the table are listed. You can also enter any other value.

      • Options at variable type "Table":

The characteristic attribute variables of the search directory (search source) are listed. You can also enter any other value.

    • Labeling:

Enter a labeling by clicking on it. This will be displayed in the report later.

    • Unit:

Optionally you can state a unit.

If the variable has no own unit, the entered unit is displayed.

If the variable has a unit, the value is converted - if necessary. The conversion is only possible at the type "Variable".

      Example:

The diameter in the table is given in inches. You have stated mm as unit. -> The value is automatically converted from inches to mm.

  • Filter for results:

Via Filter for results settings you can restrict results. Available filters are Variables search and Topology search. It is possible to use the functions repeatedly by clicking on Add search function.

The function is available for the following reports:

    • Duplicates Report

    • Make or Buy report

    • Cost mockup report

    • Supplier search

    • Search for unmachined parts

    [Note] Note

The filter affects the result parts, not the search parts.

The functionality is according to the standard search functions:

  • Search only in preferred rows

It is also possible to create a report based on preferred parts. Therefor activate the checkbox. This is according to the activation of the button Preferred rows on/off in the ERP toolbar. Then the report only uses preferred parts.

    [Note] Note

The on/off state of the button Preferred rows on/off in the ERP toolbar is irrelevant for reports.

Start the report creation by clicking on OK.
