3.1.15.7. Saving templates

You may save any assembly that is applied as a configuration or template as a Template file (.sbl) .

Connection may also be saved as templates. See Section 3.1.12, “ Connections ”.

Templates are identified with this symbol in the selection directories.

In contrast to Configurations , templates are configured automatically in the PARTdataManager.

In order to save a template, do the following[110]:

  1. In the File menu, click on Save template as... .

    Before an assembly can be applied as a template, it must first be saved as a Configuration .

  2. --> The dialog Save file as opens and is specified as Template project (*.prj).

    Assign a name to the template and confirm with Save.

  3. --> The Save Template project dialog opens.

    Per default, the name of the Template file (.sbl) corresponds to the name of the template project (see above). This may be changed, however it is recommended to keep the template for identification purposes.

    Define a Project name as well as a corresponding Brief Description.

    These entries can later be found in the PARTdataManager in the directory tree and under symbols.

    If you activate the option Fixed template , you may later no longer change the assembly.

  4. Confirm with OK.

    --> The configuration or modified template is now also saved as a template.

  5. So that the new template can also be made visible in the PARTdataManager, you have to add the template in PARTadmin under Index administration to the index.

    In the template project's context menu, click on Add to index.

  6. Open the PARTdataManager. The template is now available in the Part selection.
