3.1.2.1.2.2. Export 3D formats

The following 3D CAD formats and 3D system neutral formats are available:

3.1.2.1.2.2.1. "Views" tabbed page

3.1.2.1.2.2.2. "Filter" -> Geometry tabbed page

In the Geometry section you can perform the following settings optionally:

  • Export draft as sweep:

  • Split pattern:

  • Convert holes:

3.1.2.1.2.2.3. "Export options" tabbed page -> Insertion position, Options, Layer settings

On the Export options tabbed page you can determine the Insertion position.

In the Options section you can find the following setting options:

  • Insertion position: X and Y

  • Options:

    • Insert into active CAD application afterwards:

    • No Attributes: ...prevents certain attributes (for example texts from PARTproject) from being transferred to the CAD system during export

  • Attribute layer

    • Name: Free input of layer name

    • Line type

    • Line color

    • Line weight

    • Visible - Attributes visible in drawing area: ja/nein

    Aside from the possibility of directly assigning lines and colors, the color and line settings may also be made dependent on the layer setting in the CAD system. For this, select the option "by layer".

  • Attributes: Setting options see above

  • Geometry layer: Setting options see above

  • Geometry: Setting options see above

3.1.2.1.2.2.5. "Export options" tabbed page -> Export accuracy

On the Export options tabbed page you can adjust the Export accuracy.

Select the desired accuracy in the list field:

  • Current selection

  • Medium

  • High

  • Very high

  • Extremely high

  • Ultra high

The part is calculated with the set level of detail before the export.

The function is identic to the level of detail option in PARTdataManager, but here only temporarily for the export.

3.1.2.1.2.2.6. "Transformation" tabbed page

On the tabbed page Transformation, you can adjust the axis orientation and scaling for the exported part.

3.1.2.1.2.2.7. "Reduction" tabbed page

On the tabbed page Reduction, you can not only specify a certain number of triangles, but also the required result quality.

  • Default: Reduces to the predefined number of triangles. If the current number of triangles undershoots the predefined count, no reduction will be made.

  • Light: Light reduction. Great for a simple reduction of the face count of Parts. The topology will not be changed. Circles will be approximated by many faces.

  • Medium: Medium reduction. Great reduction of the face count of any Part. The topology will not be changed. Circles will be approximated by less faces.

  • Rough: Rough reduction. Great reduction of the face count of big or highly triangulated parts. Can destroy the topology of small parts and can lead to edged circles.

3.1.2.1.2.2.9. "Cross-section" tabbed page

Cut part

    Cut plane:

    In the list field, select YZ plane, XZ plane or XY plane

    + or - (mirror-inverted display of cut)

    Displacement of sectional plane:

    In the input field, enter the desired displacement. (The numerical value corresponds to the measuring unit of the part.)

  • Quarter cut

    In order to create a quarter cut, activate both the checkbox at Cross-section, as well as at Quarter cut.

    The settings are the same as for a cross section.

3.1.2.1.2.2.10. "NX" tabbed page

Please select the application folder where ugraf.exe is located.

3.1.2.1.2.2.11. Import via Macro

Some CAD systems import PARTsolutions parts with the help of macros:

Macros record the individual steps that are taken during the creation of a geometry. With the help of this record, the geometry can then later be "reproduced" in the CAD system.

In other words, the imported files are available without the usual connected information (dimensioning, part descriptions, etc.). In addition, no thread display is possible for example.

For connections, the export via macros is unreasonable, since the important connection information (create with borings, etc.) cannot be exported along with them.

3.1.2.1.2.2.11.1. CATIA Macro
  1. Catia V5: Within the Tools menu, select the command Macro, Macros....

  1. In the Macro in: field, select the option External file.

  2. Enter the macro name or choose it via the button Select.

  3. Confirm with the button Execute.

  1. In the VBScript window, you can indicate the Destination directory into which the part is to be saved. If you do not want to save the macro file, simply click on Cancel.

--> The macro is played.

3.1.2.1.2.2.11.2. SolidDesigner/OneSpace Modeling Macro
  1. Start the SolidDesigner.

  2. Open the *.lsp file with the File, Load... dialog.

3.1.2.1.2.2.11.3. SolidWorks Macro
  1. Within the Extras menu, select the command Macro, Execute.

  1. Open the desired part with the ending .swb/.swp (SolidWorks Visual Basic Program).

  1. In the Search for folder window, indicate the Destination directory an, into which the part is to be saved. If you do not want to save the macro file, simply click on Cancel.

--> The macro is played and then the part is opened in SolidWorks.
