3.1.1.8.  Search filter assistant

  • A Search filter assistant is normally created administratively, aiming to pregenerate the mostly used filters, in order to ease finding relevant parts for users.

The assistant can be editied again a a later time.

  • A Search filter assistant is based on any desired search. The search path in the search filter assistant is the same, which has been used for the filter generation.

  • You can set, which variables should be displayed later in the filter.

  • A Search filter assistant is automatically generated.

  • The Search filter assistant is also available in Apps.

Search filter assistants are found in a dedicated catalog. At the first creation of an assistant the catalog "- Filter assistants -" is automatically created.

A Search filter assistant opens in its own docking window.

To open the desired assistant simply double-click it in the index tree. Perform settings with sliders, checkboxes, etc. and finally click Start search. The search is performed as any "normal" search.

Search filter assistant Create

In the following the creation of a search filter assistant is explained:

Perform a search on whose basis you want to create the search filter assistant.

After a performed search open the generator (the dialog box Search Filter Generation Settings) on the tabbed page Search results by clicking on the icon Extended search filter assistant .

You can test the created assistant dynamically: When clicking Generate it immediately opens and can be tested. The generator remains open, the settings can be adjusted and you can generate again till the result is satisfying.

  • Search filter generation settings at a glance

In the dialog Search Filter Generation Settings, on the left side, you can see the dialog area Found variables with variable names, description, supplier name and value ranges, on the right side the dialog area Selected variables, which initially is empty. The selection of the variables to be overtaken in the search filter assistant happens via drag & drop. Simply draw the desired variables into the right area. Change sequence or delete variables via context menu command.

In this example on the left side, the tabbed page "Variable -> Catalog" is chosen.

  • Adjust variable names

Sometimes different variable names are used for the same geometric characteristic (the following figures show exemplarily DA and D2). It is particularly interesting to unify different variables in one filter in the Search filter assistant and to adjust the naming of the filter.

Initial situation: You have dragged and dropped DA and D2 into the "Selected variables" area.

  • Storage directory for assistants

    • By default assistants should be stored in the catalog - Filter assistants - predefined by CADENAS. That's why in the list field Path "My filters" is already set and only the assistant's name (the prj file) has to be stated.

Furthermore select a language in the list field. Then the assistant will be saved in a respective subdirectory.
