3.1.1.6.7.1. Display mode

Top right on the tabbed page Search results, you can select different display modes.

[Note] Note

In principle, every display mode can be used, independent of whether the option searching for parts or searching for parts and part families had been chosen.

However, please regard the following:

  • Search for parts

The mode "Search for parts" especially suits for Geometric search (3D), Sketch search (2D) and Topology search.

This mode is also important when company parts catalogs are searched, because often heterogeneous parts with completely different shapes are collected in a classification project.

In the case of Full-text search this option makes sense, when specific table variables are used or the search is combined with a Variables search and thus the search delivers specific characteristics.

  • Search for parts and part families

Select this mode, when you do not want to find a specific characteristic in the first step, but just want to find adequate part families.

In the following sections the different display modes are explained.

3.1.1.6.7.1.1. "Details" display mode

In Details mode (default) the variables of ALL results are displayed, which possibly results in a wide table (if many catalogs have been searched or the search provides different parts). So possibly fields remain empty, if the respective part does not contain certain variables.[49]

Variable filters in the column header

At the top of each column you can see an input field for filtering. Even if not all hits are displayed in the search results, the filter affects all hits and the display of table variables is dynamically adjusted. You can filter a number of variables one by another, already entered values remain.

In the following example a search for "head cap bolt" and the numerical value "50" has been performed. Search terms are marked with yellow color.

You can position interesting variables further forward by drag & drop with pressed mouse button in order to view them at a glance.

In the following example nominal thread diameter, length and pitch have been filtered.

Columns with used variable filter are automatically positioned in the front.

[Note] Note

If you have searched with the option parts and part families then at the desired search result, click on the plus sign in order to view the single parts (characteristics). Initially, only now the characteristic attribute table with the single variables is displayed.

Whether the superordinated project (part or assembly) or a certain characteristic is displayed you can recognize at the respective icon:

  • | Part or assembly

  • Certain characteristic

3.1.1.6.7.1.1.1. Popup window in the Summary column

Under certain circumstances you can open a popup window with enhanced information by clicking into a cell of the Summary column.

  • Table cell too small

  • Hit resulted from an accordance in an other language

  • Hit resulted from an accordance in path

    [Note] Note

Standard text (NT), Standard number (NN), Standard description (NB), the project path, textual table fields and also numerical table fields are searched in all languages.

Examples:

When searching for "schraube" in an English user interface in the popup window you can see where the hit is based on: accordance in name, path, description.

Topology search with "Any parameter" delivers a lot of values. In order to see all values, click into the cell. The single values are highlighted in orange.

3.1.1.6.7.1.2. "Table" display mode

The mode Table is widely according to the mode Details. However, smaller preview images are displayed here and the column Summary is missing, so that you can see more columns at a glance.

3.1.1.6.7.1.3. "Symbols" display mode

In the mode Symbols large preview images and the most important information such as standard number or standard name is displayed.

3.1.1.6.7.1.4. "Cloud Map" display mode

In the Cloud Map mode you can find the following features:

Mode "Cloud Map"

Mode "Cloud Map"

  • Parts are displayed as graphics

  • Geometric similar parts are closer together than less similar parts.

In this way you get a quick overview on the search results and possibly can specify the search in a further step.

  • By clicking on a part (graphic) a tooltip with part information on standard number and standard name is displayed, furthermore a 3D preview.

  • Above the Cloud Map a toolbar with additional functions is displayed:

    • Picture size: Adjust the image size with the slider.

    • Transparent background: Turn of transparency, if graphics are overlapped and you want to focus on a marked graphic.

    • Show relations: If you activate the checkbox, the relation lines based on textual accordance are displayed. Geometric and textual information does not have to be according necessarily.

3.1.1.6.7.1.5. "Partition Map" display mode

In the mode Partition Map the results are partitioned in rectangles.

At first the main level is displayed, always four cluster with four representatives each. So you have 16 options. When clicking on a cluster you see further images and automatically zoom in, step by step down to the lowest level with parts. In each cluster the number of contained results is displayed in the top right corner.

Example 1:

In some clusters, it has been zoomed in and then out in order to search at another place.

Example 2:

On the lowest level, in the "Partition Map" as well, you can call up the 3D view via mouseover or open the part in the "Part view" via context menu command as usual.

[49] you can change the display that only the variables of the respective result are displayed. On this see Section 3.1.1.6.7.2, “Columns show/hide ” -> Option "All table variables".
