3.1.15.1. General information regarding assemblies

Controlling an assembly configuration

The control of an assembly configuration is taken over by a system of rules that is first created in the Configurator [112] The following is determined therein...

  • ..which connection parts will be made available for the selected Start element in the PARTdataManager,

  • ...at which locations can the parts be added to the start element

  • ...and how the selection in the corresponding table will be dimensioned.

3 Assembly project types

Three assembly types are differentiated between which are displayed in the PARTdataManager in the part tree with different symbols and possibly corresponding abbreviations in the name.

  • Configurations (_asmcfg.prj) can be composed step by step and individually via a stored system of rules and a predefined part pool.

In Part view in the PARTdataManager the Assembly dialog area is displayed on the Tree view tab page.

If several characteristics are available during assembling the parts, in between a selection via table is needed.

  • Templates (_asmsbl.prj) automatically assemble themselves.

In Part view in the PARTdataManager the Assembly dialog area is displayed on the Tree view tab page.

The Option list area stays empty at first, since the part is automatically assembled and no selection is necessary.

Optionally, changes can be made to the automatic assembly of specific templates afterwards.

If several characteristics are available during assembling the parts, in between a selection via table is needed.

  • Assembly Table Projects (_asmtab.prj):.. are completely configured.

The selection of parts and characteristics (in other words the entire controlling) occurs in the PARTdataManager standard interface via the table and list view.

[Note] Note

The Assembly Table Project is the most important assembly project type for the user. Today, almost all CADENAS catalogs for standard assemblies use this project type. Using this assembly type is the same as for single parts. Functions of single parts in the assembly are controlled via the general table. Due to the similarity in use, the afore mentioned sections did not mention assemblies in particular.

For assembly modeling, the configuration and template are the basis. The Assembly Table Project concerns this (see Chapter 11, Configurator (Assemblies in PARTdataManager) in eCATALOGsolutions Manual).

Also assistants (see Section 3.1.6.4.13, “ Web Assistant (provided by customer) ”) and the product configurator (see Chapter 5, Interactive Product Configurator ) concern this.
