3.1.11.2.3.  Use preferred rows filter

If Show only preferred rows is activated, then this will affect search results. Use this filter specifically in order to receive optimal results quickly.

What is a preferred part?

Standard definition: A part is a preferred part when it has an ERP number. In principle every other definition is possible as well. E.g.: A part is a preferred part, when it has an ERP number AND the value in the ACTIVE_STATE column is "released". Details on this are found under Registerseite Allgemein.

How preferred parts show up in Part selection and Part view?

  1. Part selection in index tree:

In the Part selection, in the index tree, a directory is only then displayed in green[93], if it (or one of its sub-directories) contains at least one preferred part.

As long as the function Preferred rows on/off is deactivated, the index tree is displayed unfiltered. That means, green and red catalogs, directories and projects are displayed. If the function Preferred rows on/off is activated, then only green catalogs, directories and projects are displayed.

Index tree unfiltered = Button "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

Index tree unfiltered = Button "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

Index tree filtered = Button "Preferred rows on/off" activated

Index tree filtered = Button "Preferred rows on/off" activated

  2. In the Part view, in the characteristic attribute table, a characteristic (line) then will show a green status light, if it represents a preferred part.

    • As long as the function Preferred rows on/off is deactivated, all characteristics (lines) are shown unfiltered. That means, green and red status lights are visible.

Table unfiltered = "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

Table unfiltered = "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

    • If the function Preferred rows on/off is activated, then only lines with green status light are visible.

Table filtered = "Preferred rows on/off" activated

Table filtered = "Preferred rows on/off" activated

[Note] Note

When activating the function Preferred rows on/off it could be, that nothing is displayed, although there are LinkDB entries in the table, because these do not comply to the preferred rows definition!

What is the function of the button Preferred rows on/off when searching?

If the function Preferred rows on/off is activated, then in the Search result only those projects are shown, which contain at least on characteristic, which is according to the preferred rows definition or only characteristics, which are according to the preferred rows definition.

  • As long as the function Preferred rows on/off is deactivated, in the search results all projects and characteristics (lines) are shown unfiltered. That means, everything is shown what is according to the search condition (in the example in hand "head cap bolt iso D=16 L=120").

Search results unfiltered = "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

Search results unfiltered = "Preferred rows on/off" deactivated

  • If the function Preferred rows on/off is activated, then in the search results, only those projects and characteristics are shown, which a) are according to the search condition and b) are according to the preferred rows condition.

Search results filtered = "Preferred rows on/off" activated

Search results filtered = "Preferred rows on/off" activated

[Tip] Tip

If you only want results (parts), which contain an ERP number, then proceed as follows:

  1. In the input field of full-text search, enter the catalog name (e.g. "norm", "festo", "ganter", etc.).

  2. Activate the button Preferred rows on/off.

  3. Perform the search.
