2.3.6.3.  Block [MatMAP] - Material mapping in Creo/ProEngineer

In order that the material mapping can be executed, so that in Creo/ProEngineer the correct material is displayed at a part transferred from PARTsolutions, the respective settings have to be performed:

Configuration file settings concern ...

Material selection in PARTdataManager

Per default the material is displayed in the table column MAT_NAME when an ERP integration is available.

Depending on the company-internal workflow the material can be set (together with an ERP_PDM_NUMBER) directly in PARTdataManager for example.

The procedure in PARTdataManager is as follows:

  1. Click on the button Add dataset to link database .

-> The dialog box new ident-no. opens.

  2. Open the list field under Material. Exactly those materials are displayed, which are set in the configuration file $CADENAS_SETUP/material_assign.cfg. Detailed information on material mapping can be found under Section 2.2.5, “Material mapping ”.

  3. Select a material and confirm with OK.

    new ident-no.

-> At the selected characteristic, which is to be exported, now the desired material is displayed. (In this exemplary procedure the ERP number has been automatically generated.)

    MAT_NAME: STEEL

[Note] Note

All materials, which are shown in the list field should be mapped to the respective materials on the side of Creo/ProE.

Material mapping

[Note] Note

Lookup directories for material definition are (in this order...):

  1. Current Directory

  2. pro_material_dir

  3. Paths configured in option [Interface] -> MaterialDirectories

At Creo/ProE the material files are stored under C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Common Files\M020\text\materials-library.

In a first step, under block Interface, key MaterialDirectories, determine the path to the material library in Creo/ProE.

This can either be the standard path or any path. Should there be more than one material library, then enter the paths comma separated.

[Tip] Tip

It's easy to find a key. Simply call up the dialog box Searching... via context menu command Search key (over any configuration file). Determine the search options and click on Search.

In a second step determine the mapping in the MatMAP section. Key value is the name of the respective mtl file. Lower or upper case doesn't matter.

Apply exactly those keys, which are set in the configuration file material_assign.cfg or can be a value in the column MAT_NAME.

So in this example apply the key "STEEL" among others.

Key value is the name of the respective mtl file.
