3.3.8.5. New generation of DIS and Material - Examples

[Note] Note

There can be very different scenarios in praxis:

  • Only SAP PLM | only SAP MM | both processes

  • Creation dark or light

  • User roles can be configured very differentiated. Detailed information hereto is found under Benutzer-Rollen-Konzept.

In the following a few examples are given for explication:

  1. The design engineer may carry out entries in the SAP MM mask.

In this case the procedure would be according to the explained under Section 3.3.8.4, “New generation of DIS and Material”.

The design engineer starts the export with Export to CAD , the PLM process is running in the background, he performs changes in the MM mask and saves the changes. The part is transferred to the CAD system.

  2. The design engineer may not carry out entries in the SAP MM mask, because this is a privilege of the standardization department.

In this case for a part which is not yet part of the PLM and ERP (meaning the part has no ERP_PDM_NUMBER) the status light in the table would show red.

The design engineer clicks on Request ERP number per e-mail .

ERP toolbar in PARTdataManager: Request ERP number per e-mail

ERP toolbar in PARTdataManager: Request ERP number per e-mail

The Send e-mail dialog transfers the needed part information to the standardization department.

The standardization department now starts the SAP PLM and SAP MM processes via Add dataset to link database .

As soon as the part got an ERP_PDM_NUMBER the status light shows green.

Now the design engineer starts the export via Export to CAD .

  3. One could use a third color yellow in the status light.

    • The design engineer clicks on Export to CAD .

    • The SAP PLM process runs "dark".

    • The status light turns to yellow so that the part application is visible for others.

    • The standardization department is informed of the request via e-mail.

    • The standardization department completes the generation by calling up the SAP MM mask.

    • Now the requested part is available for the export showing green status light.
