Overview on the CAD PARTsolutions PLM integration

Overview on the CAD PARTsolutions PLM integration

During assembly export from PARTsolutions to Autodesk Inventor, an inquiry is sent to the PDM (Vault): Is the corresponding part already stored in the database or not?

  • If yes, the part is read from the PDM and copied into the inventor working directory on the local computer (Vault Operation "DownloadFile"). This local copy is then sent to the CAD.

  • If not, the corresponding part will be created in the PARTsolutions parts pool. After this generation it will be "checked into" VAULT.

The Vault Interface was carried out under use of the Apache AXIS 1.3 JAX-RPC implementation. Technically, the following overall architecture is given:

All requests go directly to the Autodesk Data Management Server. An installed Vault Client is basically not needed. The necessary infrastructure (CADENAS vbs, Java VM) is an inherent art in PARTsolutions and available independent of the operating system.
