7.8.2.4.2. Order/Groups of Variables - Hide columns (variables)

PARTproject -> Edit project -> General1 -> Columns -> Order/Groups of Variables -> ...

General functions

With the option Order/Groups of Variables the following two functions are controlled:

  1. Status of visibility of columns in PARTdataManager [23]

Variables, which do not belong to any group, are not displayed in PARTdataManager.

  2. Sorting and grouping of variables

User interface

If groups have already been specified (automatically by the variable-NB/LINA relation or manually) the groups MAIN and SECONDARY are displayed with the respectively assigned variables.

Order/Groups of Variables

[Note] Note

If no groups have been specified yet[24] (can be recognized at the empty field Order/Groups of Variables),

then an automatic process is performed at the first opening of the Order/Groups of Variables dialog box.

The automatic grouping is performed according to the following scheme:

  • Variables, which are part of NB and LINA, are assigned to the group of the Main variables, the others to the group of the die Secondary variables.

  • Variables of type "Algorithm", which are not part of the NB, are invisible by default and are not assigned to any group during the automatic grouping.

  • Variables, which have been set invisible explicitly (in V8.1), are not assigned to any group and thus are invisible.

After closing the dialog box the group assignment is displayed in the field.

You can adjust group assignment anytime.

With click on the browse button ... the Order/Groups of Variables dialog box opens.

Order/Groups of Variables

Order/Groups of Variables

  • Left column | Divided into two groups

In the left column under Cluster you can switch between Main variables and Secondary variables, which are displayed in the middle column then.

  • Middle columns | Variables list of the selected group

The middle column shows the content of the selected group.

  • Right column | List of all variables

All variables are listed in the right column. In the input field at the bottom right, you can enter anything to filter the variables. [Input of any terms is possible. For example "diameter" will also find "outer diameter" and "inner diameter".

Red displayed variables are not part of any group and are invisible in the table or in PARTdataManager.

  • Symbols and icons

Variable is located in group Main variables
Variable is located in group Secondary variables
Red font: Variable is not allocated to a group
Move marked variable in list up
Move marked variable in list down
Mark all variables in selected group
Transfer marked variable into marked group. Alternatively the variable can be moved per Drag&Drop.
    Remove marked variable(s)
    Reset filter

Hide/show columns

Columns/variabels that should not be displayed in the table, may be hidden:

  • Hide

Mark a group in the left column and in the middle column delete the desired variable with .

If a variable is not part of a group, it is invisible.

  • Show

In order to make a hidden column visible again, mark the group on the left which should take over the variable and drag the desired variable from the right column into the middle column or use the arrow button .

  • Handling of added variables

In PARTeditor added variables are displayed with gray font color in PARTproject in the Order/Groups of Variables dialog box and are invisible in PARTdataManager with this status.

    [Note] Note

If however no automatic group assignment has been performed yet (see above), the added variable is handled according to the "old" scheme and is assigned to the group "Secondary variables". In any case you can adjust the group assignment.

    PARTeditor -> Variable Manager

[23] The method of setting columns invisible has changed under PARTsolutions V9. Under V8.1 there was the option "Hidden Columns".

[24] Possibly the project has been created before this feature was available.
