10.5.1.3.3.1. Buttons in connection with New 2D drawing

The following is true in general for using the buttons:

  1. Activate button with simple mouse-click. -> The function of the button is then attached to the cursor.

  2. Move the cursor to the desired spot within the sketch. -> Depending on the function of the button, the snap (circle symbol) will become visible.

  3. Carry out the function of the button at the desired spot with a simple mouse-click (for example, "insert line", etc.).

In the New 2D drawing mode, aside from the Sketcher mode, you also have the following toolbars available:[45]

  • Text toolbar

    Text toolbar

  • Polyline toolbar

    Polyline toolbar

  • ellipses toolbar

    ellipses toolbar

  • Hatches toolbar

    Hatches toolbar

  • Dimensioning toolbar

The following sections explain the individual buttons of these toolbars.

10.5.1.3.3.1.1.  Text

Insert text :

  1. Click on the button. -> The Change parameter window shows up.

  2. In the Text field, enter the desired wording and set the appearance and Position of the text with the rest of the fields.

  3. Confirm with OK.

In the Text position field you can determine the direction of the text to the set position X/Y ( red point at the A symbol).

10.5.1.3.3.1.2.  Polyline

Split polyline :

Polylines, such as for example occur when cutting two cylinders, are also split into "calculable" single segments with this function (circular arcs, ellipses, etc.).

As a group of single segments, the polyline can be edited and/or trimmed as well as imported to a CAD system with the "recognizable" properties.

In the example at the right (section highly zoomed in on) the Polyline can, for example be taken and cut via Cut element between 2 elements.

Scale drawing

After clicking on this icon, the Scale drawing dialog window opens.

Enter the desired value into the input field.

If desired, set the variable SCALE.

Confirm with OK.

The Change parameter opens. Here you can adjust the Scale factor and determine the Reference point.

The Change parameter window opens. Here you may adjust the Scale factor and determine the Reference point.

10.5.1.3.3.1.3.  ellipses

Ellipse by point on main axis and hull edge point :

  1. Click on the sketch in order to set the midpoint of the ellipse.

  2. Define the location of the main axis with a further point.

  3. Define the edge point of the rectangle in which the ellipse is inscribed.

In the Change parameter window you can adjust the coordinates through values and/or variables.

Ellipse by point on main axis, width and height :

See Ellipse by point on main axis and hull edge point.

In the Change parameter window you can regulate the dimension of the ellipse via Width and Height (see figure at right).

Ellipse by main axis angle, width and height :

See Ellipse by point on main axis and hull edge point

In the Change parameter window you can regulate the dimension of the ellipse via width, height and the angle between the x and main axis (see figure at right).

Ellipse segment by point on main axis, start- and end point :

See Ellipse by point on main axis and hull edge point, then:

  1. Define the first midpoint line and thus the start point.

  2. Define the first midpoint line and thus the end point.

-> The segment, which can be found in clockwise direction between a) and b, remains intact!

Start and End point can be adjusted in the Change parameter window.

Ellipse segment by point on main axis, width, height, start- and end point :

See Ellipse segment by point on main axis, start- and end point.

Width and Height can also be adjusted in the Change parameter window.

Ellipse segment by point on main axis, width, height, start- and end angle :

See Ellipse segment by point on main axis, start- and end point.

Start and End angle refer to the main axis. Both can be adjusted in the Change parameter window.

Ellipse segment by main axis angle, width, height, start- and end angle :

See Ellipse segment by point on main axis, start- and end point.

In the Change parameter window you can additionally determine the dimension of the ellipse via the angle between the x and main axis.

10.5.1.3.3.1.4.  Insert hatch

Insert hatch:

  1. Mark the plane to be hatched by pulling a frame around it with held down Shift key and mouse button.

  2. Press the button.

  3. In the Change parameter window, set the Angle (the value 0 stands for 45°!) and the Hatch spacing (distance of hatch lines).

[Note] Note

Only closed elements may be hatched.

10.5.1.3.3.1.5.  Dimensioning mode

The dimensioning mode can be called up via:

  • PARTdataManager -> button 2D derivation -> dialog box 2D view -> context menu

  • PARTdesigner -> File menu -> New drawing

Call up the Dimensioning mode via respective toolbar button or context menu command.

Horizontal dimensioning at 2 points:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the first point. Take care to notice that a dot is only then attached when the snap is shown.

  3. Click on the second point.

  4. Click on the place where the dimensioning should be placed.

  5. Change parameter dialog box: Set the Measure text (the expression {AUTOMATIC%0} stands for the measured value), the Offset (spacing between dimensioning text and measured line) the Height (font size of the dimensioning text) and the Arrow size.

Height: 3.5; Offset: 5.58...; Arrow size: 3.5

Height: 3.5; Offset: 5.58...; Arrow size: 3.5

Diameter with angle and distance:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the circle to be dimensioned. --> The dimensional line shows up.

  3. Position your dimensions.

Version 1: Fix the Angle of the line with a simple mouse click. Then pull the entire dimensioning onto the desired Position and deposit it with a mouse click.

Version 2: Fix the angle and position of the dimensioning with a double mouse click in one step.

[Note] Note

You can change the angle (concerning the x-axis) of the dimensioning in the Change parameter window.

Change parameter

Radial with angle and distance:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the to be dimensioned circle, respectively the arc of a circle. --> The dimensioning line shows up.

  3. Position your dimensioning.

The angle (concerning the x-axis) of the dimensioning can also be adjusted in the Change parameter window.

0° lays on the bisecting line of the segment of the circle.

Half value offset dimension from line:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the reference line (axis of reflection).

  3. Click on the point, whose distance to the reference line should be dimensioned.

  4. Position the dimensioning.

--> The Change parameter window is opened.

  5. Apply the dimensioning to the entry fields if needed.

[Note] Note

Rotationally symmetrical points are dimensioned from point to line with help of the half value function. Though the depicted dimension line only describes half of the dimensional length (therefore "Half value"), the dimensional value, however the whole dimensional length!

Angle dimensioning at 2 lines:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the first line (pay attention to clockwise direction!).

  3. Click on the second line.

  4. Position the dimensioning. --> The Change parameter window opens.

  5. Apply the dimensioning to the entry fields if needed.

Distance dimensioning from point to line:

  1. Press the button.

  2. Click on the reference line.

  3. Click on the point whose distance to the reference line should be dimensioned.

  4. Position the dimensioning --> The Change parameter window opens.

  5. Apply the dimensioning to the entry fields if needed.

Adjust dimensioning...

When opening this dialog, all dimensionings are displayed in color. By clicking on Deselect angle dimensions these are not included in the changes.

Attribute to be changed:

  • Text height

  • Text distance (Offset)

  • Dimension text

  • Number of decimals

Set a checkmark at the desired attribute.

Define the Type of change:

  • Scale

  • Set to a fixed value

  • Add offset

Enter the desired Value into the input field.

Start the changes with Apply.

When you select a dimensioning it will show up in red and the context menu can be retrieved.

  • Change parameter...
