13.1. Function

CADENAS PARTdxfConverter is a tool for automatically converting 2-D drawings, e.g. from 2-D programs such as AutoCad © and Medusa © etc. which have already been saved in these programs as files in dxf format or for dxf catalogs and integration of these files in the CADENAS PARTsolutions standard part system.

In order to do this, you determine a start directory in which the *.dxf files to be converted are located. After you have selected these, the corresponding files are located in the File structure field. If you click on a *.dxf file with the mouse you will see a preview of the relevant 2-D part analogously.

The elements in the Preview field can be chosen with the cursor so that the related layer from the drawing is displayed immediately, highlighted in color, in the Line assignment field.

You can now make drawing-specific adaptations for subsequent export from PARTdataManager to a 2-D CAD system in the other Preferences menus beneath the File structure.

You can make font assignmentsand can hideindividual element groupssuch as texts or arcs etc. using an Element filter .

When you have determined the user-specific changes, you can assign a new Project name to the project file (*.prj) or you can accept the file name proposed by the program which has been taken automatically from the dxf file. In addition, you can assign view names which are used as the preview name in PARTviewer 's Variant field.

After you have made the individual edit steps, you can start conversion with the Start... button and generate the project file (*.prj).

A progress display is shown during conversion.
