4.8.2.5.  Classification

Preliminary information about classifications:

Via classifications, alternative directory structures in the PARTdataManager are created. Into these directory structures (new) projects can be inserted. The allocation occurs via the individual classification fields (see below).

Process:

First click on the classification field then on the appropriate Browse ... button. --> The respective classification window opens. Assign the desired classifications. More detailed information can be found under Section 5.6, “ Add projects to classification ”.

The following classifications are available:

  • By Alphabet: alphabetic searching of catalogs.

  • By Countries: classification according to countries in which each catalog company distributes products and/or owns subsidiaries.

  • By Categories: classification according to categories.

  • CADISON : Used for connection of CADISON.

  • CNS :

  • Daimler Chrysler classification German

  • eCl@ss :

    eCl@ss is a standardized classification system for product groups and product attributes with the goal of enabling the electronic business of classified products.

    eCl@ss is offered as a standard for information interchange between supplier and customers and is identified by a four-stage, hierarchical classification key with a keyword register consisting of 12,000 terms.

    Features (eClass) : variables from the standard or company catalogs may be assigned to eCl@ss variables via the Class variables menu window. You can search for these eCl@ss variables later in PARTdataManager.

    The following eCl@ss versions are available to you:

    • eClass 4.1

    • eClass 5.0 SP1

    • eClass 5.1

    • eClass 6.0

  • FSF classification:

  • ICS - International Classification Standards:

    The "International Classification for Standards" (ICS) is an international classification system, that compiles all economic sectors and activities which use technical standards.

  • Classification (Standards) :

    Standards is the standardization system supplied by CADENAS. It has a three-stage structure on the basis of the DIN number etc. The selected directory is transferred to the title bar and the field (see illustration at the right).

  • Classification (UNSPSC) :

    The UNSPSC Standard is a product classification defined by the United Nations. The Standard represents a universal classification scheme for an extremely wide variety of product groups for worldwide use.

  • Part Class : this is still in the development stage.
