3.3. Creating a Component

3.3.1. PARTproject: part files associated to a project Processing the training.cip-file Starting PARTproject Create new project
3.3.2. PARTdesigner: Creating the GEOMETRY of the cap nut Interface of PARTdesigner Advantages of PARTdesigner Individual steps for creating the cap nut Defining variables Defining variable names Defining equations Defining description Commit Import Save file Create drawing Select plane Sketch 1 – “raw“ cap nut Creating vertical and horizontal center line Determine height of hexagon Define total height Define diameter of a spherical head Define horizontal position of spherical head Describe the spherical head with a semicircle Trim the sketch, Part 1 Create external chamfers on the hexagon Trim the Sketch, Part 2 Set rotational axis Close Sketch 1 Base rotate Sketch 2 – Hexagonal cap nut Create Hexagon Add a Rectangle Close Sketch 2 Sketch 2 - Extrude the rest Sketch 3 - Insert Inner thread Launch PARTeditor
3.3.3. PARTeditor: Creating an attribute table Edit table Add row Import table Add columns Save table - ID information
3.3.4. Creating Dimensioning views *.3db files Select *.3db object Dimensioning *.3db Object *.pra files *.pra files
3.3.5. Completing the project Set up 2-D files Looking at 2-D views in PARTdataManager Create preview images Create preview image externally and import Create preview images in batch run
3.3.6. Test project / Test directory
3.3.7. Finish project
3.3.8. 2-D derivations
3.3.9. 2-D derivation: more information
3.3.10. Create index
3.3.11. PARTdataManager - viewing the project
3.3.12. Example: hinge

Before a part can be displayed and chosen in PARTdataManager, the relevant part data and a project file must be created.

The geometry (*.3db) is to be applied in PARTdesigner, the table file (*.tac) in PARTeditor. Both modules can be run from PARTproject.

In PARTprojectthe different information concerning a part – even dimension drawings and additional info – are assigned to a Project file (*.prj).

After being affiliated to the index, the new part is available in PARTdataManager.
