Use the Face class browser, if you want to change a number of faces, which already have an attribute.

The Face class browser always remains open when editing the single attributes.

Right-click on the empty area next to the 3D part.
Select the command Face attributes....

-> The Face class browser opens. Here you will find a list of which attributes have already been assigned to which faces.
