    1. Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and your background?

My name is Pradeep Kumar from India. I have 4 and half years of experience in design and manufacturing sector. I completed 10th in 2006 (high school), 12th in 2008 8(intermediate college) and BE (mechanical engineering) in 2013. I used to work as a design and application engineer in Bengaluru for a while, but then I came back home. Currently, I am doing freelancing job from my home providing engineering drawing solutions to our local companies.  I also worked as a draughtsman for an auto company (manufacturer of auto components and ancillary plants). In 2015 and 2016, I worked as a design and costing engineer.

    2. What software do you use?

    I use Solidworks software.

    3. When and how did you start with 3D modeling and what was your first model?

It was in 2014 during my bachelor engineering education. We had engineering drawing subject. My first 3D model was a screw jack.

    4. What are your favorite modeling subjects/themes?

My favorite subjects are fixture designs for machining and consumer products. I find myself comfortable in that area.

    5. Are you also into 3D printing?

Yes, for almost 1 year I worked in 3D printing field (FDM).

    6. Is there any specific 3D model you are proud of and why?

I am really proud of my aeroplane part/model (GOVT OF INDIA PROJECT). A 3D model which we got from the customer was not the same as the drawing. Due to this reason, the sample was rejected. After we discussed with the customer, I made a 3D model and 2D drawing which was quite large: 200 dimensions, 3 sheets, 15 sections views. As the manufacturer requested, some aspects/some dimensions was not possible to achieve through machining process. So, 2D drawing and 3D model were changed and we got an alternate solution. We got an approval for my drawing and the problem was solved. I got appreciation from my supervisor and the customer for my 3D model and 2D drawing!

    7. What was the most challenging project you have done?

I made a coating fixture for holding a small part (medical equipment), c/s area diamond shape. That fixture needed to face rotation cw/ccw and high temperature.

    8. As one of our most active members on PARTcloud.net, what do you find so attractive about it?

I like different and useful features; we can set camera option behind any 3D model, a model can be dynamically linked with configuration and we can get different shapes by single click.

    9. What features in PARTcommunity/PARTcloud would you like to see in the future?

I am unable to like or comment any model through mobile app. I would like to see chat feature in app, notification feature (chat notification, comments or like notifications, download notifications) with different options, so I can control it.

    10. Do you have any other hobbies?

Yes: sudoku and sketching doddle characters!

    11. Do you have any goals for the future regarding 3D modeling?

I would like to do business related to that area. 3D modeling, 2D drawing, animation, rendering, light effects, shadowing, cartoon characters, etc. is a nature of my work, so I think I could do good in that field and make my clients happy.

    12. What advice would you give to beginners?

Stay fit, keep calm, be innovative and creative!
