    January 2019: Mehmet Atalay Bicer

    1. Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and your background?

My name is Mehmet Atalay Bicer and I was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1948. I am an engineer (agriculture) and also have PhD in soil cultivation and soil microbiology. Furniture design is my passion, so I see my self as a designer, too.

    2. What software do you use?

I mostly use Cinema 4D, Autocad, 3Dsmax, Photoshop, Kitchendraw arcon, Archicad and some other software available.

    3. When and how did you start with 3D modeling and what was your first model?

3D modeling is my hobby. I started in 1972 and, at that time, the basic tool was a pencil and a piece of paper. My first model was a dining room set which I designed for my home.

    4. What are your favorite modeling subjects/themes?

My favorite modeling subject is classic furniture and you can see that if you check all my uploaded 3D models.

    5. Are you also into 3D printing?

I am an elderly gentleman and it is not easy for me to follow new stuff (innovations, software, etc.), but I will buy a 3D printer and I will learn how to use it, for sure!

    6. Is there any specific 3D model you are proud of and why?

I really like to draw classic models and practical models (daily usage). We have a proverb: „OLD IS GOLD AND NEVER SOLD“. It means everything to me and I respect and appreciate that.

    7. What was the most challenging project you have done?

Well, I do not have any specific model to mention. I work on furniture models and this is why I like challenges about the furniture.

    8. As one of our most active members on PARTcloud.net, what do you find so attractive about it?

My goal is to show some 3D examples to young generation and to inspire them to design models we need. This is why I find PARTcloud.net as a good portal or base to achieve my goal.

    9. What features in PARTcommunity/PARTcloud would you like to see in the future?

My suggestions is that PARTcloud.net needs a new design/user friendy interface in order to upload models easier. Also, it would be a good idea to have a board with job oppurtunities/offers. This could supply the portal with some financial resources, too (because those companies have to pay for those adds). This kind of job advertisements is good for companies who need personnel, but it is also good for all those non-employees who will follow PARTcloud.net daily to see what new job offers are listed there.

    10. Do you have any other hobbies?

Teaching is my life style. I still search, explore and ask all the time to improve my knowledge and skills.

    11. Do you have any goals for the future regarding 3D modeling?

My goal is to transfer my knowledge to young designers and I find that very important for our future and next generations.

    12. What advice would you give to beginners?

My advice would be to continuously search for the new knowledge, ask questions and learn as much as you can!
