3.1.6.10.3.3.  Movement and orientation

Movement mode...

Observer

Rotate, zoom, and move the parts to compare as a whole.

Rotate/translate/mirror a part

Select a part by clicking on it.

-> Now the menu commands are available.

  • Rotate/Translate

    If Restrict to... is checked you can restrict rotation and movement to the X, Y and Z axis.

  • Rotation(increment)

    If Use step size is checked, you can set the step size to 45°, 90° or user-defined.

  • Mirror

    By clicking on the X, Y and Z buttons, the part is respectively mirrored.

    • Currently not available with the new 3D view. If essentially needed, please switch to the old 3D view via configuration file.

      • V1: old 3D view

Orient and move parts

  • Currently not available with the new 3D view. If essentially needed, please switch to the old 3D view via configuration file.

First the current state is displayed.

Here exemplified is No constraint.

Click Define >>.

Define the mode:

  • Face on face

  • Vertex on vertex

Click one of these buttons.

  • Select a face on part 1

    Click the 1 button.

    Afterwards click the desired plane.

    -> For confirmation, a green checkmark is displayed in front of the button.

  • Select a face on part 2

    Repeat the selection for the second part.

  • Show both parts.

    If both parts shall be displayed click Both.

Now two green checkmarks should be displayed as confirmation.

Click Commit.

Now Fixed face is displayed under Current constraint.

In order to get a fixation along an axis, repeat the procedure with another plane.

Afterwards Fixed axis is displayed under Current constraint.

Using reset, all fixations can be removed.

Click << Back.

By right-clicking, you can perform a movement along the fixed axis.
