3.1.1.11.  Export to CAD

After a part (assembly) is explicitly defined, you can export it to your CAD system.[72] [73]

In the CAD system parts taken from PARTsolutions can be processed as native parts.

The following two figures show the opening of and workflow with and without a PARTsolutions interface during export.

  1. Export to a CAD system with PARTsolutions interface

Either in the Export menu or into the toolbar in, click on the command Transfer to CAD .[a]

--> The selected part is exported to the CAD system.

    [Note] Note

The icon remains active independent of whether you continue to open from the PARTsolutions menu or you switch directly into the PARTdataManager.[b] [c]

  2. Export to a CAD system without a PARTsolutions interface

Either in the Export menu or via the toolbar with the arrow symbol open the Format overview.

[d]From the different export formats (see right) select the one that fits your CAD system.

Under Destination file enter the storage location and, if applicable, the Version or, during 2D export, the Views.

Afterwards, open the file from within your CAD system.

[a] Information about all CAD integrations can be found under Chapter 2, Open PARTsolutions from CAD systems.

[b] If a "valid" model is open in the CAD system, then the icon is also automatically active in the PARTdataManager.

[c] In earlier versions, the properties were adjustable. With V9 the properties are identical for all interfaces in the described manner.

[d] More detailed information about export formats can be found under Section 3.1.2.1, “ Export to CAD system ”.

[72] For 2D parts, a 2D derivation must firs be created. See Section 3.1.1.11.3, “ Create 2D derivation ”.

[73] For configurations make sure that there are no elements in red. These must then be assigned a specific characteristic.
