3.1.2.7.2.1.  Full-text search: Geometry and ERP values mixed

At Full-text search projects and link database are always searched together. Even if several search terms are entered it doesn't matter whether hits result from the project file (geometry data) or from a link database column.

Example 1:

Search with "bolt super":

The one terms aim to score hits in the project file, the other in the link database.

The one terms aim to score hits in the project file, the other in the link database.

The table shows hits both in the project file and in the link database.

Example 2:

In this example search terms are used, which are linked with the boolean operator OR [97].

The characteristic again is, that the one terms will achieve hits in project files, the other in the link database.

Search:

gasket OR o-ring

With OR it is sufficient, if one of the terms scores a hit.[98]

That means: Projects are found, which either have the term "head cap bolt" OR the term "awesome", regardless of whether the term is in the project file or in a LinkDB column.

Search with "head cap bolt OR awesome"

Search with "head cap bolt OR awesome"

Search Results:

The hit list contains head cap bolts, of course, but also a hit "hexagon bolt".

Search with "head cap bolt OR awesome"

Search with "head cap bolt OR awesome"

The reason is, that the project with hexagon bolts has an entry "awesome" in the link database.

[Note] Note

The filter icon top left signalizes, that the table is restricted. If you wan to see all lines, then click on the icon.

[Note] Note

Please keep in mind - especially when manually adding a term into the link database, that the ERP index has to be created again.[99]

The respective command is found in PARTadmin -> Index administration -> context menu command Create link database search index.

The blue database icon signalizes, that the ERP index is available, otherwise the icon is grayed out.

The blue database icon signalizes, that the ERP index is available, otherwise the icon is grayed out.

The index contains all role information.

[Tip] Tip

At very specific searches like for ERP numbers or special descriptions it makes sense searching line based, that means to use the option "Search for parts".

[97] Boolean operators could also be used in earlier versions.

[98] Without operator or when using AND both terms would have to score a hit on the respective line.

[99] In productive use this will happen via nightly update mostly.
