During assembly export from PARTsolutions to SolidWorks an inquiry is sent to the PDM (SolidWorks Enterprise PDM): Is the corresponding part already stored in the database or not?
If yes, the part is read from the PDM and copied into the current local view on the local computer. This local copy is then sent to the CAD.
If not, the corresponding part will be created in the PDM local view and saved automatically in the PLM. After saving into the PLM, the integration can check the file into the vault and carry out workflow changes.
The following image shows the architecture of the integration:
The Bridge component requires Microsoft .Net 2.0 or higher in order to be able to run. This version of the framework is also needed in order for SolidWorks Enterprise PDM to run, so usually an installation is not necessary.
The Bridge component export macro functionalities that is used by the CADENAS VBS script engine in order to manage PDM operates automatically.
