3.3.8.4. New generation of DIS and Material

For the new generation of a part which is not yet covered in SAP there are two different processes:

  • SAP PLM (creation of DIS)

  • SAP MM (creation of Material No.)

Both processes are independent from each other, but are normally used together.

Depending on configuration each of the two processes can run "light" or "dark". But normally the SAP MM process runs "light" and the SAP PLM process runs "dark".

In the following the whole procedure is explained in general. Examples are found under Section 3.3.8.5, “New generation of DIS and Material - Examples”.

  1. Release button for the creation of DIS and Material can be different in PARTdataManager. One possibility is the Export to CAD button for example.

  2. PARTsolutions starts the SAP PLM interface in the background (dark) and fills fields such as:

    • Part description (in any number of languages)

    • Material

    • Piece list name

    …more mapping as desired

  3. Native part is stored in the „SAP-Work“ exchange directory.

    There happens:

    • PLM-CheckIn

    • New creation of DIS and link to the related model (dark)

Link with DIS: This process normally runs dark so that the CAD-Desktop does not appear. With "light" mode at this place the CAD-Desktop would display

    • Create preview (jpg)

    • Pass status net

  4. PLM information is transferred back into the CADENAS LinkDB.

  5. SAP MM starts (light creation)

    • CADENAS PARTdataManager automatically fills the mapped MM fields such as the following:

      CADENAS PARTdataManager (LinkDB)   MM fields
      • Part description (in any number of languages)

      • Material

      • Piece list name

      • Standard number

      • ... any other desired fields

      ===>
      • The "Material" field is automatically filled by SAP

      • The respective fields are filled from PARTdataManager (LinkDB)

      Display material

      Display material

    • If before the SAP PLM process has run the DIS is linked.

  6. Together with the saving of the MM data record the MAT No. and other desired information fields are transferred back into the CADENAS LinkDB and displayed for all users

    CADENAS PARTdataManager (LinkDB)   MM fields
    • The respective columns in the PARTdataManager table

    <===
    • Mat No.

    • Any other fields...

  7. Now the selected part is transferred to the CAD system.
