4.2.1. Hardware

PARTcommunity can be hosted on one or several servers. The software requirements control the hardware requirements. Therefore only a recommendation for the hardware needed can be given.

Hardware recommendation:

We recommend splitting the software onto several servers:

  • Web server

(Recommendation: Setup of an own server for this software part. This requires a complex and very special installation incl. PARTsolutions client installation)

  • File server

    (Reuse of existing server possible)

Needed storage: Depends on the number of catalogs installed (PARTsolutions storage) + storage for preview images if special PARTcommunity images are desired.

  • Database server

    (Reuse of existing server possible)

Needed storage: Depends on the number of users/shopping cards (1 MByte * Number of Users)

A fast running and highly available network as well as low response times are required for all servers, of course.

Virtual Servers

Virtual servers are supported. The only exception with virtualized hardware is the licensing: In that case a FLM server is required in addition. This FLM server must not be a virtual server[56].

If installing PARTcommunity at a physical machine, a regular nodelocked license can be used.
