3.1.1.9.  PARTsolutions parts management with PDM/ERP/PLM integration

With PARTsolutions parts management with PDM/ERP/PLM integration you have options available, which are explained in the following:

The options Parts management productive (without database installation) and Parts management demo environment (incl. SQLite) can not be used together!

For Parts management productive (without database installation) you can optionally select SAP interface (MM/DVS) in addition.

If you use PARTsolutions parts management WITHOUT PDM/ERP/PLM integration, then do not activate any option.

  • Parts management productive (without database installation)

    If you use Parts management with PDM/ERP/PLM-Integration productively, then select this option.

    Parts Management is the connection of catalog data with ERP/PLM data. Hereby role based shares and views can be controlled and data of your database system can displayed in PARTsolutions for the user.

    The database system has to be provided by the customer itself. Information on the configuration of the database server, creation of the database schema and users, setting the ODBC data source and how to connect PARTsolutions via ODBC can be found under Section 4.2, “Installation Link database ” in PARTsolutions / PARTcommunity4Enterprise - Administration Manual.

    [Note] Note

    The respective SQL scripts for MS-SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Oracle XE, SAPDB and DB2 are found on the installation CD/DVD under "<DISK_ROOT>\tools\databases". The appropriate database drivers are selected in the next step of the installation routine.

    The needed basic settings such as especially "erpenabled" in the configuration file under $CADENAS_SETUP/plinkcommon.cfg are automatically set.

  • Parts management demo environment (incl. SQlite)

    This option is meant for users that want to try Parts Management, but not yet want to use it productively. Hereby demo data is installed and the needed configuration settings are automatically made. Parts Management is the connection of catalog data with ERP/PLM data. Hereby role based shares and views can be controlled and data of your database system can displayed in PARTsolutions for the user.

    The installation of the standards DIN, EN, ISO, etc. is needed therefor.

    Once you have selected the Parts management demo environment (incl. SQlite) option, you work with a link database connection. Now when launching any PARTsolutions modules the Database login… will appear.
