4.9.11.  Tabbed page Catalog help

The tabbed page Catalog help always shows up at directory level.

So-called Help files can be "linked" to directories (folder/catalogs) and projects. Additional information on components and catalogs can be saved in these files (*.HTML, *.doc and *.pdf). The files are then opened using additional buttons in PARTdataManager.

The following comments show how to set up a new catalog help.

  1. Click on the Define Catalog Help button.

--> The dialog page Catalog help opens.

On this dialog page you can set buttons, help texts and documents and deposit them as defaults. The actual allocation to directories and projects occurs on the register page itself. Close this page with OK after you have completed all entries.

  2. In the field Catalogs set the directory that should acquire the new help. For example, "demo_catalog". You create new lines via the button.

  3. Enter the bitmap symbol for your Help file in the Catalog buttons field.

If the corresponding file lies outside of the PARTsolutions installation path, you will see a prompt as to whether you wish to copy it beforehand to the directory of the catalog you specified beforehand. Confirm with Yes .

    [Note] Note

The size of a of a Help button must be 16 X 16 pixels (256 colors)!

You can make as many entries as you wish.

  4. Under Help strings (these show up as tooltips) set the optional default text.

  5. Under Documents set optional default documents.

  6. Close the page with OK.

  7. You are now once again on the dialog page Catalog help.

At the left of the directory tree, choose the directories and projects in order to create the desired settings in dialog area specifically.

  1. In the Catalog buttons field, already defined symbols (here: + ) show up and the number of the newly added button.

Set the desired Status for the visibility in PARTdataManager:

    • default: The status bases itself on the status of a higher directory.

    • existing: The button is available.

    • not existing: The button is neither visible nor active for this and all lower directories.

    • gray: The button is only visible in gray and is not active in this directory.

  1. In the Help strings field, tool tip texts [25]can be applied in different languages. Set "German" and enter your help text. This text will later be shown upon passing over with the mouse arrow in the PARTdataManager.

  2. You can save Help documents in various languages in the Documents field. Also set "English" and enter the path to the document file which is to be opened when you click on the button in PARTdataManager.

    [Tip] Tip

    Use $CADENAS_DATA/help/demo_catalog/...

The directory has already been set during the creation of the button symbol.

  1. Save your settings and update the index.

--> The Help file is displayed in the directory tree.

  1. Start PARTdataManager and check the existence and function of the new button.

Deleting of help files: Click in the respective row and then on the button.

[Note] Note

The color of the pixel in the upper left corner signals which color will become transparent in the button, in other words, will let the system color show through.

Example:

You want to replace the color white on the button with the system color (let the system color show through), then set the pixel color to white as well.

[25] Tool tip: Short explanatory text which shows up upon touching with an interface element, for ex., a button.
