6.10.3. Publication mark

In order to prevent projects (directories) from being displayed in end media, these do not have to be removed, but it is sufficient to apply the context menu command Remove publication mark. By using Set publication mark projects (directories) can be labeled for display in end media in principle, where other factors will also play a role.

Icons

For the marking of the Publication status, there are following icons:

On project level:

  • This project is marked for publication

In published catalogs, a potentially visible project

  • This project is not marked for publication

In published catalogs, a project definitely not visible.

On directory level:

  • In this directory all projects are marked for publication

In published catalogs, a potentially visible directory

  • In this directory some projects are marked for publication

In published catalogs, a potentially visible directory

  • In this directory no projects are marked for publication

In published catalogs, a directory definitely not visible.

[Note] Note

The publication mark is set and saved on project level, NOT on directory level. The publication mark shown next to a folder icon is just an indication of publication status of the projects within respective folder. So the visibility of a directory is not defined by its publication mark, but instead is determined by the publication status of the projects within the directory.

May be the respective command is used on directory level in order to save time, however, in any case state of the projects is determining.

Example: At projects with QA status < 5 the publication mark is mandatorily removed. The use of the command Set publication mark on a hierarchically superordinated level will not change the status of such projects in any case.

Icon Meaning

The quotation mark is displayed, when the state is not clear (during catalog download for example). In other cases you can use the command Update publication status in order to clarify the status.

Effect

Set publication mark

Project level: The icon changes from to (if project status does not speak against it)

Directory level: The icon changes from or to (if project status does not speak against it)

Remove publication mark

Project level: The icon changes from to .

Directory level: The icon changes from or to .

[Note] Note

The state of the publication mark does not refer to the transmission of projects to SVN server, but to the visibility in end media. Even if Remove publication mark has been performed (gray icon ), projects are transferred to the server.

Publication mark On -> The project may be visible in end media basically, whereby the actual visibility is determined by an interaction of different factors.

Publication mark Off = -> The project is not visible in end media.

For details please see under Section 6.10.4, “ Case differentiation concerning project visibility in end media”.

Example:

  1. Initial situation:

On all projects and directories, the publication mark is set.

Meaning the green globe is displayed everywhere.

  2. On a certain directory, the context menu command Remove publication mark is executed.

  3. Result:

    1. The globe on this directory level changes its color to gray and thus signalizes that this directory will not be visible in the published catalog version (in end media).

    2. The globe at the superordinated directory changes its color to gray-green and thus signalizes that in this directory there is at least one directory/project, where the publication mark is not set.

    3. The green checkmark at the changed directory changes its color to red and thus signalizes that local working copy and server state are different. The same applies for all superordinated directories.

Projects with QA status < 5

At projects with QA status lower than 5, the publication mark is deactivated (= gray icon ).

If attempting to apply the command Set publication mark, an error message appears.

Set publication mark

Set publication mark

The project does not have a sufficient QA level!

The project does not have a sufficient QA level!

If a project with set publication mark gets assigned a QA status < 5, is will lose its publication mark (-> ).

Example:

Initial situation is a project with QA state 8.

The QA state is set to 3.

-> A security prompt is displayed. (Then the project has to pass TestMeta again, for example.)

-> After confirmation with Yes the publication mark is removed (-> ).
