5.8.2.1.2.  New project

When clicking on New project, a new project is created below the marked folder.

  1. Mark the desired folder under which you want to create the new project.

  2. Click on the context menu command New project.

-> The dialog box New project is opened.

  3. Under Project name, enter the desired name.

    [Note] Note

The project name should be as short as possible!

  4. In the list field below, select the desired template:

    • Template for Assembly Configuration

-> The respective basic files are created.

Select *_asmcfg.asy and click on Edit.

-> PARTdataManager is opened in the Configurator mode. See Section 3.1.16, “ Configurations and templates ” in PARTsolutions / PARTcommunity4Enterprise - User manual.

    • Template for 3D project

      Standard template for 3D projects

    • Template for 3D project with LOD (AEC – Z-axis on top) (LODEST variable with default "Architecture" as primary target market)

Template for 3D project with LOD (MEC – Y-axis on top) (LODEST variable with default "Mechanical" as primary target market)

When selecting this template, basic variables with specific values for LOD control are created. Details on this can be found under Section 5.9.3.3.5, “Example: Specifics for project creation especially in Architecture / BIM catalogs ”.

      [Note] Note

In Architecture / BIM field there are some specifics concerning target systems, which have to be considered during modelling of catalog parts already. See Section 3.5, “Architecture”.

    • Alternatively you can determine the template via search button ....

  5. Confirm with OK.

-> The new project is applied with basic files in the index tree.

    Project file (.prj)

[Note] Note

Projects have to have an intact table, otherwise saving is not possible in PARTdesigner.

When creating now projects the following error message appears, because no table exists yet:

Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0.

Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0.

This error appears as long as a table is created. If the variable is used in the model doesn't matter.

Table with one variable and one value is sufficient to avoid an error message.

Table with one variable and one value is sufficient to avoid an error message.

The error could also arise during QA check.

"No existing records in the file" is a subsequent error of "Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0" (possibly caused, when subsequently removing table lines again).
