7.6.4.2.1.  Extrude...

Call: Base -> Extrude...

-> The sketch is opened in the 3D view.

-> The command Extrude... opens the dialog box Extrusion solid.

Once all entries are made a preview is displayed in the 3D view. Changes are immediately displayed.

  • Name: Per default "Base extrude <number>" shows up. The numbers go up consecutively with each new extrusion.

    [Note] Note

    You may change the name. However, use only ANSI characters (in other words: a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and spaces).

  • In the Length field you can set the measurement of the stretch of the 2D object.

    Length of extrusion

    Length of extrusion

  • Opposite direction: The extrusion is performed in opposite direction.

    Both directions: The extrusion is performed in both directions.

    Black vector = direction: Against surface normal

    Black vector = direction: Against surface normal

    Black vector = direction: Both directions

    Black vector = direction: Both directions

  • Different lengths: With this option the 2D sketch is also extruded in both directions, yet with the possibility of defining different extrusion lengths.

    The length against the plane normal can be set in the field below Different lengths (in this case "30").

  • Draft: In order to create a draft from a 2D sketch, enter the respective angle measurements into the draft field.

  • You can connect a Condition to an extrusion as well. Possible characters are &, |, !=, =, >, <, >= and <=.

    Example: The sketch should only be extruded if for variable H (height) a value larger than 10 has been set.

    Construction steps (features) which, based on their condition are excluded, will be deactivated in the 3D History and identified by an if symbol ( at Base at Cut) .

  • Minimum rasterization:

    In some rare situations we have the problem that we need to increase the accuracy for rasterization within the part to enable the creation of certain geometry. Therefore you can find this option for Base, Cut and Sweep.

    Example:

    Left, depiction with "Very high", right, with "Default"

    Left, depiction with "Very high", right, with "Default"

After you have left the context menu Extrusion solid via OK , you will see a new feature in the 3D History called Base extrude 1.

In the 3D view the sketch shows up as a solid body.
