5.9.2.9.1.  Render material - Functionality

The functionality shall be clarified with the help of a small example. A part shall be equipped with the texture "Eiche grau / Oak gray".

  1. Under PARTproject -> Edit project -> tabbed page General -> Render attributes -> Render material, you can choose, newly create or edit the render material for the selected part.

    [Note] Note

    In the simplest case (ideal case) all materials used in catalog are already completely specified, so that you just have to pick them.

    In the following you can see how to create new materials or edit existing.

  2. Under Render material, call the respective dialog Render materials by clicking on the button ... and make a selection.

    In the overview on the left, specified render materials are listed with their color and name.

    When clicking on you can create and specify any number of new render materials.

    [Note] Note

    The selection of render materials in the PARTdesigner happens via ID. That's why both ID and Name should be uniquely assignable to the material.

    For ID do not use empty spaces and special characters.

    If newly created materials are not immediately displayed in the list, please click F5.

    • Maxwell: For export format Maxwell Render or creation of preview images with Maxwell Render

      • Path: Click on ... and select the desired Maxwell file (*.mxm).

      • Import:

      • Edit: Maxwell Material Editor is started (if installed).

  3. Click on Edit.

    In standard case the material should be completely specified so that you don't have to perform any settings here.

    Information on the settings can be found under Section 5.9.2.9.2, “ Render material - Settings ”.

    -> The dialog box Edit material for 3D preview is opened. Perform the desired changes - if needed.

  4. Confirm with OK.

    -> Now you are in the dialog Render materials again.

  5. Also close this dialog now by clicking OK.

    -> Now you can select the applied materials in the list field under Render material.

  6. Test the part in PARTdataManager.

Do not forget to update the index before you open the part in PARTdataManager.
