    1. Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and your background?

My name is Romano Maric, 25 years old and I am from Croatia. I am currently working for CADENAS Services d.o.o. company located in city Slavonski Brod as a project assistant and 3D printer administrator. Also, I am a student (final year at Mechanical engineering college in Slavonski Brod).

    2. What software do you use?

I mostly use company’s internal software PARTsolutions, but I am familiar on daily basis with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

For my private projects, I use SolidWorks (mostly because it has got implemented SolidCam – which I use to get G-codes for CNC machines).

Regarding 3D printing, here at our company we have MakerBot Replicator 2, so as a slicer I am using official MakerBot software.

    3. When and how did you start with 3D modeling and what was your first model?

I started with 3D modeling while I was still in a high school. I have learned 3D modelling from my professors considering we had it in several high school subjects.

    4. What are your favorite modeling subjects/themes?

I like to model almost anything, but my favorite subjects are SF and mechanical engineering. I find myself comfortable in that area, but it is also very challenging. The fact I have to use my imagination and creativity when creating SF models is the funniest part of that game.

    5. Are you also into 3D printing?

Yes. That is a part of my regular job and I have learned a lot since I started, because every new model brings new experience and knowledge. It is really great to watch how the picture in your head becomes reality. You feel proud and happy at the same moment!

    6. Is there any specific 3D model you are proud of and why?

There are few models I am proud of and most of them are done for professional/business purposes, not as models for fun. I am talking about the highly detailed and precise mechanical models. Something like that takes a lot of working hours and good engineering knowledge and experience, so you need to have solid basis to be able to succeed in this kind of tasks.

    7. What was the most challenging project you have done?

I would say it was a robot which was done for ABB company. Very complex model, but the final result was outstanding.

    8. As one of our most active members on PARTcloud.net, what do you find so attractive about it?

Beside of high numbers of magnificent 3D models, I really enjoy reading knowledge articles. Also, members of PARTcloud.net are very supportive, friendly, funny and always ready to help you if you need an advice or help with something. One more important thing: 3D challenge brings new members, new models which are very creative and unique, so, when you see something like that, it inspires you to be better and better and to push your limits and think “out of box”. Very positive influence, thank you!

    9. What features in PARTcommunity/PARTcloud would you like to see in the future?

I would like to see web page a slightly faster than it is now regarding upload and download. Otherwise, I really like it as it is.

    10. Do you have any other hobbies?

Yes, I enjoy flying in gliders as a member of our local aero-club. Also, I play a guitar in my spare time. Those two things are my “vent” and my passion.

    11. Do you have any goals for the future regarding 3D modeling?

Of course. I would like to get more into Blender or Zbrush orr similar software. I like to learn, to develop my skills and, with every new knowledge I gain, I feel as a better person.

    12. What advice would you give to beginners?

Take it step by step, be patient. Time and practice makes wonders, everything is possible, just be dedicated to your goals and only sky is the limit!
